Tau Delta Phi is Proud to Partner with Active Minds, Inc.

Tau Delta Phi has named Active Minds as our official philanthropy and service partner.  Active Minds “empowers students to change the perception about mental health on college campuses.”  Our Fraternity believes in their mission to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking.  We encourage our chapters and colonies to co-sponsor events with the Active Minds chapters on their respective campuses, and on campuses without Active Minds we encourage Tau Delta Phi chapters to develop programming that tackles mental health issues on college campuses.

Tau Delta 5K Run – A Benefit for Active Minds

In 2015, Tau Delta Phi created the Tau Delta 5K run for chapters to host as a fundraiser for local Active Minds programming.  Grand Historian David Porter (Delta Nu) presented the idea as a way to increase awareness of Active Minds programming and values, and increase campus participation in raising funds for mental health issues facing college students.

Chapter leaders can download the Planning the Tau Delta 5k guide below and begin creating a new campus tradition that helps support Active Minds.

Active Minds Programming Resources

Active Minds programming is based on the latest research as well as input and expertise from students, the Active Minds Student Advisory Committee and the National Advisory Committee.  This feedback helps ensure that Active Minds programs are innovative and relevant to our diverse audiences on campuses across the country.

Chapters and colonies can find resources online to help develop innovative programming on their campuses that help fight the stigma related to mental health among college students.

Fraternity Awards for Active Minds Programming

In 2015, Tau Delta Phi Fraternity added three annual awards to recognize the outstanding work our brothers do for and with Active Minds on their campuses.

Brothers can find criteria for the awards on the members-only Resources tab, and read through the criteria for:

Active Minds Dedication to the Cause Awards – given to the brother most dedicated to the cause of Active Minds on their campus, serves as role model for other members, and exhibits a commitment to Active Minds.

The Active Minds Chapter Programming Award – given to the chapter or colony that participates in and sponsors the most Active Minds Programming during the school year.

Active Minds Philanthropy Award – given to the Chapter or Colony that raises the most money for Active Minds during the school year.
